Moves across the boardEach sector on the strategy board is defined by a particular balance of influences from head and heart and gut. Minor adjustments in that balance give access to the wings – but the wings are always ‘within reach,’ right there beside you: they do not involve moving away from home base. There are situations in which the balance of head and heart and gut can change in a far more significant way. Such a change would represent a move across the board to another sector altogether. And these moves tend to follow well-trodden paths across the board. Once away from home base, visiting a different sector of the board, people have access to the features and even to the wings of that sector – but there is only ever one move to make from there, and that is the move back to home base. And for each of us it remains the case that home base is where our main gifts and vocation will be found. For each of the nine types, there are two ‘well-trodden paths across the board’: the path to the stress type and the path to the security type – the stress move and the security move. And there is a logic about both moves which is – inevitably – all about the balance of head and heart and gut. |
