Wings and Moves and other functionsWings and moves – introductionEveryone has a usual strategy – one of the nine – which is their most common approach to any new situation. But the most common approach is not the only approach. In addition to their usual strategy, everyone has a range of alternative strategies for approaching different situations. Within the infinite variety of humankind, each individual will use their alternative strategies to different degrees – but clear patterns do emerge. There are alternative strategies within reach of each sector, which do not involve moving away from that sector at all. These alternative strategies are called the ‘wings.’ They involve only minor adjustments in each sector’s balance of influences from head and heart and gut. The other alternative strategies involve more significant changes in the usual balance of influences: in effect, they represent moves to another part of the board altogether, at least for a while. These alternatives strategies are called the ‘moves’ – and they tend to follow a distinctive pattern of well-trodden paths across the board. |
